You will write a 600-650 word letter, modeled on Dr. King's letter, to the author of the editorial . Your letter should refute the claims made in the editorial just as Dr. King in the "Letter from Birmingham Jail." refuted the claims made by the eight white Alabama clergymen. The editorial writer, however, will aruge a position. You are to write a letter that states a claim that is in opposition to the claim of the editorial. Your letter should have the structure of an argumentative essay. See the course document for information on the structure of an argument (Review chapter 4, also). In the introduction you will briefly summarize the editorial, identifying its title, author, source, properly documented using MLA format, and date. You will at the end of the introductory paragraph, during which you establish a context for your position, state your claim and warrant and three reasons why it is true. Your next paragraphs should takes support the three reasons why your position is true and logical. Your next paragraph should acknowledge the opposition and then succinctly refute the opposition, if you have not already done so. Finally, your letter should end with a concluding paragraph that emphasizes the importance of the view you have taken, perhaps signaling its global significance. This assignment is due on February 10 at midnight in digital dropbox. Double space the argumentative essay and indent at the beginning of paragraphs. This is a major assignment so you must proofread and edit your final paper. The essay should be written in the form of a letter with an appropriate formal salutation and closing addressed to the writer of the editorial and the public
