Project Description

Penrose Publishing hold regular workshops for both their budding and published authors.

We are looking for creative writing ideas for our writers workshops. We want a creative writer to provide an interesting template which will then be used to help develop our authors skills.

Bidders should be prepared to submit one sample of their work explaining a single storyline in 1000 to 2000 words answering the following:

• What happens in the story?

• To whom does it happen?

• How does it happen?

• Why does it happen?

Genres can be chosen from Romance, Thriller, Drama or Science Fiction

The successful candidate will be asked to write briefs for 3 stories. Each brief will be 5000+ words and conform to the following formula:

Select a point of view:

• First person (I)

• Second person (you)

• Third person

-limited ( the narrator knows what the main character is thinking and feeling)

-objective ( the narrator knows nothing in the minds of the characters)

-omniscient (all knowing)

• Describe the idea,

• Formulate the story

-The setting—time, place, and context of the story

-The opening that has a hook

-The main characters, develop the conflict, provide obstacles, and introduce the rising action, leading to the climax or turning point. The why of the story should be revealed through the motivation of the main character to create tension and take the story beyond just a series of related events.

• The ending- resolve the story with a plot twist, epiphany or confrontation

Successful candidates normally have the option of further work should they wish. Please contact me with any questions.
