Project Description

Note that you are expected to bid for a batch of 100 news articles.

We are seeking writers to join our expanding team of freelancers,

contributing content to our UK-based technology website.

Given the nature of the technology landscape, we need news writers who can

contribute content primarily between 8am and 8pm (UK time). On occasion, we

will require assistance outside these times (e.g. to cover live events or

special assignments) and there may also be scope for more regular

out-of-hours shifts in the future.

Writing for a UK-based audience, you will have a deep knowledge and passion

for technology and be able to cover everything from the latest iPad launch

to the wrangles surrounding HP’s acquisition of Autonomy. Working remotely,

you’ll be sourcing, researching and writing technology news for publication

on our site.

Training, guidance and feedback will be provided by the in-house team of

editors. Although writing quality is paramount, the ability to sniff out a

good story, or see a different angle on a well-covered subject are equally

important.

Successful applicants will:

-be expected to produce articles of at least 200 words

-abide by the fact that they will only be paid for published articles and

will accept to review their articles if copy editors send them back.

-have excellent command of written English &

-be able to write catchy, SEO friendly headlines.

-be able to research and suggest news titles.

-have experience of online content management systems (training will be

given).

-have basic knowledge of image editing and HTML.

-have practical knowledge of social media, with SEO/online marketing

desirable.

-be confident with the concept of tags and tagging.

-be flexible when it comes to working hours.

-be available via Skype for the whole working day.

Interested candidates should send:

-links to any published work & details of specialist interests and

expertise.

-availability time-wise.

-the number of articles they're willing to publish on a daily basis.
