We are converting our site (over 3000 products) from osCommerce to Magento and need help loading up the new cart with products. The old osCommerce site used html descriptions which don't always fit nicely into the new product page layout in Magento. For instance, the old pages had html tables at the bottom containing technical specifications for our products (weighing scales). The new cart has attributes many of these technical specifications so this data may need to be entered by hand, rather than using a script to import all the oscommerce product. The old site also used smaller images and we would like to use better images for the new store. These will need to be downloaded from the manufacturers websites and other web sources. Photoshop skills would be a plus in this regard.
The short description we would like to keep to about 6 main bullet points about the product. For the most part these can be found on the old product page on our osCommerce site, but they may need to be edited to remove redundant information like capacity and readability which will be displayed in the product listing automatically using attributes.
The detailed description can also be found on the old site, or on the product manufacturers site.
The different attributes such as capacity, platform size, battery type, etc can also be found on the old site, but need to be entered as attributes.

Hi, Manually editing then entering 3000 products into magento is not a smart idea. Why not create custom script just for your product types.? we have been buiding scripts to handle them. Thanks CystalcloudTeam
