I'm running Mac OS X Mountain Lion, with Dreamweaver CS6 v. 12.0, Wordpress v. 3.5.1. and MAMP v. 2.1.4.
I have a Wordpress-based website that utilizes a separately purchased Wordpress plugin. The plugin is critical and indispensable. Unfortunately, the plugin is not compatible with Dreamweaver, in that it requires a non-default setting for Wordpress Permalinks (Dreamweaver will only generate dynamic content in Wordpress if permalinks are left at their default setting). When Permalinks are in a non-default setting, instructing DW to find all the files that are dynamically associated with my [url removed, login to view] file results in the same server definition error that has been discussed numerous places on the web.
Nevertheless, I know that the plugin and the site can be made DW-compliant by changing some of the code in some of the documents. The plugin author indicated as much to me, although he refused to tell me what the modified code was, or which plugin and/or Wordpress files were affected.
I want to set up a local testing server for my Wordpress-based site in MAMP that's usable in DW, without the necessity of leaving the Permalinks setting at default. I can set everything else up myself once the Permalinks discrepancy is resolved.
