I am looking to add 2 USB charging outlets to a new product. The PCB will be fitted internally within the product, and needs to fit within the available space. The board dimensions are 115mm x 24mm. The available space for mounted components is somewhat limited and is highlighted in the attached file 'pcb component [url removed, login to view]'. The position of the 2 USB outlets is also shown. There are also 4 small areas of the PCB where the PCB will be mounted to the product, and therefore no components can be positioned here (see file 'pcb [url removed, login to view]').
It is imperative that this USB charger be of a good quality as it will need to pass CE & British Standard (BS) certification by an independent testing organization. Quality components and adequate separation between high voltage & low voltage paths are crucial.
The input to the charger will be 110 - 240VAC (standard mains power). Ideally the power input will be on the right hand side of the PCB.
Output: 2 x USB dedicated charging ports, 5VDC +/- [url removed, login to view], one port at 1A and one port at [url removed, login to view]
The charger should meet 30mW no-load standby power consumption requirement (five-star energy rating).
It should also incorporate a controller with over-current protection and auto restart.
The design needs to be compatible with common smartphones & tablets, including Samsung, Apple, Nokia, LG etc.
