I need to do a technical report on ”Co-ordination of Protective Relays with Synchronous Generators”.

Report Title: Co-ordination of Protective Relays with Synchronous Generators

Technical problem to be solved:

Electricity is produced in power plants by generators and carries a very large importance in our life. Present power systems require high degrees of reliability. The appropriate electrical design and good knowledge of the operation can reduce the risks associated with any failure but cannot eliminate them entirely. Therefore, it is normal for a generator to experience faults such as overheating, over current and voltage, frequency fluctuations as load changes on the system. Hence, protection must be provided to shield these machines and their loads from failure. Different kinds of protections are used to keep the system running such as relays, breakers and fuses.

Proposed approach:

This will summarize a report which will be conducted to study the co-ordination of generator relays with synchronous generators. With the aid of schematic and wiring diagrams, this project provides a comprehensive analysis of the make-up, key features and the role of the generator relays in the industry. The coordination and implementations of the relays with generators in the electrical industry is the main part of this report.

It includes the study of relay’s identification of abnormal conditions in an electrical system and the protective actions it takes to prevent accidents. The advantage of the protective relay is that it separates the defective section of any power system with the least disturbance to service when a fault occurs during the operation of the electrical generators.
