The world is a small place, smaller often than we realize. Remember the “Six Degrees of Separation” (often referred to the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon”), a theory that states that every person in the world is connected to every other person in the world through six connections or less. Pretty soon, the world becomes a very small place. And, this is most often realized in casual meetings in one’s own community and social circles. Take, for example, that girl you just started dating. Did you know she hooked up with your co-worker two years ago? And, your little brother’s roommate last summer?
Hookup History© is a downloadable app for iPhones and Android phones. Hookup History is a searchable database linked to a user’s Facebook account from which the user can pay to explore and discover the web of a Facebook friend’s sexual history. The database is a user-generated, used-input model where people can either create (report) connections between two people or confirm a previous connection between two people. The report and confirmations of a connection can come from any user, as the database is entirely at the discretion of the users.
THE FREE VERSION
The Hookup History app will be free to download on any mobile device. The “Free Version” is a basic dual-entry model where the user must input two names and only receives back a confirmation or a rejection (see picture). The user enters in a friend from Facebook (Graham Gibson, in the example) on the left. The user then enters in another friend from his Facebook contacts (Lyndsie Lou, in the example) on the right. The Hookup History app searches the database of reported connections and determines whether the pair of contact has been reported together or not by confirming the assertion with a “check mark” or rejecting the assertion with an “X” mark. The Free Version will be supported by advertising. After entering both names, but before viewing the database’s result, there will be an opportunity for a momentary advertisement. Advertising costs will be determined and negotiated by an assessment of market value. That is the extent of the Free Version. The upgraded version, as seen later, will be much more enticing and will not be interrupted by ads.
THE PAID VERSION
The “Paid Version” will be an upgraded version, available for $1.99. It will allow for a singular input. The user selects a friend from the user’s Facebook. The search then generates two “tiers” of output. When a user selects a profile to view, the actual number of “connections” is revealed, but the names and pictures remain concealed. The first tier shows the direct connections. The second tier shows the connections of the first tier. For spatial considerations, if the actual number of connections in either tier is too extensive to fit on the screen, then a number should be used instead. To Tier 1 can be purchased for $0.99. Tier 2 can be purchased for $1.99.
