ADAMS is a powerful multi-body- dynamics software from MSC Software Corporation. It has many module and plug-ins for analyzing different types of mechanisms. I have used the ADAMS/View module and the ADAMS/Vibration plug-in here for this assignment. While creating the ADAMS geometry I kept the three points in mind:
1. Simplicity of the design to get the quick analysis output.
2. Parametric design approach to adopt any future change to the model
3. Accuracy
ADAMS model creation for design concept-1
o After starting the ADAMS/View, I have used the "Point" from the "Rigid body" tool group for creating all the points for the design.
o The "Rigid body" tools are available in the "Main toolbox".
o I have renamed the "points" meaningfully for the easy recognition in future.
o Next, I have picked the "Link" from the "Rigid body" for creating the top frame and the other links.
o I have used the "Torus" for creating the wheels and "Box" for creating the base.
o Under "Force" bar, the "Spring damper" and "torsion spring " creation options are available, I used them for creating the linear and the torsion springs respectively.
o Used "Sliding joints" for creating joints between the top frame and back ground.
o I have picked "Revolute" for creating the different hinge joints.
o The "Contact" tool was used for creating the contacts between the wheels and the base.
