# Multiplication Facts Teaching Tool

This program is currently for our programmer Uday, although we always need other programmers with skills in AS3. Currently, we have a math facts teaching tool which you need to see at [url removed, login to view] - This teaches students the 100 multiplication facts from 0x0 to 9x9. Our first version actually tests the 100 facts one at a time. If an answer is incorrect, it launches a short practice set with the wrong math fact. Then, after the practice set it advances to the next multiplication fact. Upon completion of the 100 facts we see the number of facts correct, which facts were correct and incorrect - total time - percent correct - etc.

NEW VERSION 2

However, in this new version #2 of Math Fact Genius, I would like it to change how the program operates.

SELECT SETS TO TEACH

Upon clicking BEGIN TEST, this time we need to go to a different page that asks the teacher to pick the math fact sets to teach. While Version #1 begins with the zero's and advances to ones, twos, threes, etc automatically, I'd like to have it so the teacher chooses ahead of time which sets to practice. So, on Version 2 I'd like to show a page with ten check box options.

One for teaching zero's

One for teaching one's

One for teaching two's

One for teaching three's

One for teaching fours

One for teaching fives

One for teaching sixes

One for teaching sevens

One for teaching eights

(and) One for teaching nines

So let's show this new page with the following directions at the top. it might look something like this:

DIRECTIONS: Math Fact Genius will teach your student the multiplication facts. Begin by choosing one or more sets of fact sets that you would like us to teach. Math Fact Genius will then teach your student the first two math facts in the set. When these two math facts are answered correctly ten times each in random order, we will then teach a third math fact from the set. This process will continue through a teaching and testing sequence to insure complete mastery of the math facts.

FOUR'S (4's)

etc. through 10's

Put checkboxes in front of each fact set description. These checked sets will be used in the program.

CODE LOGIC FOR TEACHING AND TESTING THE MATH FACTS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

STEP 1. TEACH TWO MATH FACTS

We begin by teaching two separate multiplication facts in the first 10 math fact set chosen by the teacher (we'll be using special animation SitePal characters at [url removed, login to view] or short video clips to do the short teaching - which I'll supply).

STEP 2:

PRACTICE THE 2 MATH FACTS USING MULTIPLE CHOICE RADIO BUTTONS

STEP 3:

TEST THE 2 MATH FACTS - INPUT ANSWER FROM KEYPAD SHOWN BELOW MATH FACT.

STEP 4.

INTRODUCE 1 NEW MATH FACT AFTER ANSWERING ALL 10 FACTS IN STEP 3 CORRECTLY

STEP 5: REPEAT THE PROCESS WITH THE NEW MATH FACTS - PRACTICE - RADIO BUTTONS

STEP 6: REPEAT THE PROCESS OF TESTING THE FACTS USING KEYPAD ENTRY

This process continues through all 10 multiplication facts in the set that was chosen at the beginning of the program. For example, the math facts in the 2's set would be:

2x0, 2x1, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4, 2x5, 2x6, 2x7, 2x8, 2x9.

SUMMARY INFORMATION

At the end, the program would give detailed information on which math facts were correct/incorrect, which were answered slowly, total time, and average time per math fact.
