I represent a Synagogue and Educational Center in Israel - for a mostly English speaking population. Our name is Shir Hadash, which means new song in Hebrew, which encapsulates our values -- focusing on the postive, the song if you will, of Jewish tradition, such as ethics, unity, joy, meaning.
We need a new logo that emphasizes this positive outlook. One idea I had was to take the first letters of the two words of our name in Hebrew, Shin and Chet, and put them one on top of the other to form what might look like a person in motion (maybe even dancing a little), with the two legs of the Chet serving as the person's legs and the three branches of the Shin serving as two arms and a body with a head in the middle. Ideal color is blue. Slogan would be: Celebrate Judaism (and room to put this also in Hebrew somewhere else on the logo as well).
I have attached incredibly bad examples of what I had in mind. The ideal candidate would take the idea contained within them and transform it into a professional looking, playful, simply, easily recognizable and powerful logo.
I am open to other ideas as well, either by adding other things to the simple drawing, or entirely different from the above, especially those that emphasize our Jerusalem location (our current logo, for examples, uses a Jerusalem sky-line and a verse that speaks about 'returning to Jerusalem and there singing a Shir Hadash', i.e., a new song.
