Project Description

Based in Sydney, Australia we are a rapidly growing transport company developing an innovative, connected cloud application for managing transport and warehousing operations.

The software is developed in CakePHP (PHP) with jQuery/html/css front end.

We are looking for an experienced website designer / graphic designer / user interface designer to join our team on a long-term casual basis to work with our developers to produce innovative, clean and high quality user interfaces and graphical layouts. We anticipate the level of work to be around 5-10 hrs per week, with pay renegotiable depending on the candidates experience / results.
We are not looking to simply implement a template/design as a one-off, we are looking to transition the way we develop our app so that we are working along side a designer/designers, hence the need for someone long-term.

Our application has been in full production for 18 months (live within our organisation for the last 9 months), and although we have implemented some fantastic UI we don't have our own designer which is beginning to cause some limitations with how beautiful and intuitive we can make our app.

Currently our front-end is the generic CakePHP style, however we are contemplating implementing Bootstrap into the system as we believe this framework provides very clean, consistent and easily editable front end layouts, however we are open to suggestions.

The ideal candidate for this role will not only be able to design high quality, innovative mock-ups for a variety of complex interfaces (as well as general page layouts / themes), but will also have experience in implementing some of these features using HTML, CSS and JS/jQuery. We don't expect you to be a hard-core programmer, but the more you know about implementing the designs you come up with, the more valuable you will be to us.

Our timezone is GMT + 10, so please keep this in mind when applying as we will need to discuss things with you during normal business hours in Sydney, Australia.
