We require some artwork for a beat-em-up style game that's being developed in Actionscript. The artist will be required to create 6 seperate characters (with animations for movesets/idle etc), alongside 3 small stages.

The game is being developed at an 800x450 resolution; character hitboxes are being designed at 125x260 resolution; obviously, this is only a guideline for the idle pose of the character - animations such as punching/kicking etc are expected to push past this resolution.

Characters should be in high quality, retro-style pixel art - and should definitely not be designed at a lower resolution than outlined above, and scaled up etc. We would also be willing to take on a CG/Comic book style artist if they feel their style would be well suited to this genre!

For the 6 Characters, we have outlined the following;

3 Male Characters

2 Female Characters

1 Anthropomorphic Character (Beast-like Bipedal character based on a Daschund breed of dog - from this, it should go without saying, the game is being developed with comedy in mind). This character will have a larger model/hitbox.

The 3 stages will take up 3 times the width of the general stage (2400px in width) - and should contain at least 3 layers for foreground, background, and distant background; but should consider parallax scrolling will be in use, meaning that with the background layer moving twice as slow as the foreground, alongside the distant background moving slightly slower than this, we should see the following dimensions;

foreground; 2400px width

background; 1200px width

distance background; 1000px width

All three when used in conjunction with eachother, should reach around 550px in height. Beyond this we'll use a gradient sky.

For character animations, we'll require each character to have the following;

1) Idle animation

2) Moving animation

3) Running/Dashing animation

4) Crouching animation

5) Punching animation

6) Kicking animation

7) Jumping animation

8) Flying Kick animation

9) Low kick/sweeping kick animation (for use when crouching)

10) Low punch animation (for use when crouching)

11) Character hurt/getting hit animation

12) Blocking (Standing up) animation

13) Blocking (crouched) animation

12) Death animation

13) Victory animation

For all characters, photo references of the character influence will be provided; and you will be designing from this.

All characters will also require 3 unique/seperate special move sets, which will include both character animations, and additional (small) assets/drawings to appear; a maximum of 3 additional, small assets per character

Finally, it's also expected that additional assets will be needed; such as blood/punches connecting etc etc. These are all expected to be minor, and for the sake of project clarity, we will limit this to a maximum of 5 additional assets.

All art work is expected to be presented in easily cut spritesheet format; and of course, taking care to ensure that all sprites are centered on their plane.

Examples of your previous work in your job posting are an absolute requirement. This game is being aimed towards a PG13/15 age group; expect crude humour/some nudity. Artist will be expected to provide weekly updates, alongside displaying the work completed. Bonuses will be offered for high quality work, punctual updates, and meeting the set out schedule.
