I am a screenwriter in Los Angeles, represented by a major agency in Hollywood.
The proposition: I'm looking to increase my own value around town by creating a graphic novel to go with one or more of my recent screenplays. One of the difficulties of selling high-concept specs to properties is competing with material that is based on source material like a book or graphic novel. Films are getting harder to make so producers prefer the security of having that extra something to back the success of a project. As a very motivated writer, I want to find an equally motivated illustrator who would be willing to forgo a standard fee to be my partner creating a full length great graphic novel based on one of my highly-regarded scripts.
I can make no promises, the work will have to speak for itself, but if there is a great product that emerges from our collaboration--and my manager would have to agree--I will take it to the next level and submit to my agent. With my written vision, your illustrations and my industry connections there is a lot of potential upside for both sides here. If interested, I'd love to check out your portfolio and speak further.
