Project Description

I want to build a simple webpage containing a java applet. This applet must read information from a usb device. The Device can be a usb flash drive. And the applet must communicate with javascript.

Let me explain in further detail.

The idea is to develop an in house management web application for a company. In the website, there will be a link to read information from a weiheng scale connected to the usb port of the client's computer. The site we're building will use only HTML5, Javascript and php so if I could access the USB port using Javascript, I would. But unfortunately, for security reasons, that's not a possibility. However I learnt that you can use Java to communicate with USB (not officially but using a 3rd party API like JSR-80 or jUSB). And I also know that Java can pass back information to javascript.

I can't write Java so that's why I'm request this project.

What I need you to do is to write a simple blank html page with a an anchor tag. When you click the link, a Java applet must run, read information from an usb device connected to the computer and pass that information back the Javascript to be stored in a variable and printed on the page.

You can use a regular flash drive for testing, if the communication part is done, I can later make the integration with the weiheng scale myself.

Also make sure you add another link for refreshing the information, maybe reload the applet and print the info to the html again.

The budget is low cause you don't have to do much. Just write a simple applet and make the communication between the 3 technologies.

Make sure you have enough experience with this before you make your bid.
