My system sends out emails containing client invoices. I want to include a link in the email that when clicked would direct the user to paypal and have the form filled in with the invoice number and the amount to pay. The basic html seems pretty straightforward - something like this appears to work fine:
Please find enclosed invoice #12345. Click to Pay.
However, it may not be desirable to have the email address, item name and invoice number and amount visible. I'd rather stay away from using adp's encryption model with certificates and public/private keys since I have many users that are running this from mobile devices and it seems like it would be difficult to manage the encryption setup. If you disagree - let me know.
What's the project?
Assuming that encryption is difficult to implement - and I want to hide the html parameters - I'd like to the following. Somehow obfuscate the email address, invoice# and amount - it can be something very simple. Then I'd invoke a script on an S3 static website that converts the arguments back into the proper format and then redirects to paypal.
So - I need someone to do 2 things:
1) recommend a simple way to hide/encrypt the parameters. Much more important to be simple - there's nothing so important here. Maybe a simple mapping table that we can agree on (A->X, B->t, etc.)
2) write a script in some language - perl would be fine - that takes the incoming https request and redirects it to paypal
For example, I would invoke my s3 website with something like: [url removed, login to view]
and then the script on s3 would redirect and issue something like:
[url removed, login to view]>
Please Note: If this cannot be done with S3 - please make a recommendation and I will repost the request.
