We have a client that would like to add a searchable map to their website.
The client has sent the following link to most closely illustrate how they would like to function: [url removed, login to view]
The client will need an easy way to add/edit/delete locations. Currently all the locations and their information are listed in an excel document so if we can just continue to edit this excel document and upload it to the server to populate the map that might be ideal. If you have a better idea, do tell!
The client would also like to allow the user to search based on Congressional Districts. We can get the districts as a kml file if that is needed or it can be spec'd out in the excel doc.
We've attached a few mockups to show how we think this should function:
[url removed, login to view] = Initial state of the map
[url removed, login to view] = User selects the state Colorado - Show locations within Colorado and districts in side bar
[url removed, login to view] = User selects the District 2 in Colorado - Show locations in District 2
[url removed, login to view] = User clicks on Location marker
[url removed, login to view] = User did a search for Aspen, Colorado - Show locations within X miles
We can use Bing or Google for the map, but we are curious if we can narrow the detail shown to just State lines, Interstates, HWYs, and Cities if at all possible.
The clients current website is hosted through an enterprise CMS so adding this feature into the system would not be easy nor cost effective. Our thinking is to host the files outside of the website and then just iframe it into a page.
Please reply with a portfolio of map Projects that you have completed along with cost estimate. We prefer project estimates, but if you're going to provide hourly estimates please include an estimate of how many hours.
Also, please include a time frame of completion.
