Project Description

This project requires you to have or obtain knowledge of Excel Web App embedding using Javascript API. Found here [url removed, login to view]

Essentially, it is possible to embed a SkyDrive hosted Excel Spreadsheet into an HTML file located anywhere and create interaction with the spreadsheet live. I have a part completed project that needs completing to spec. You will need to understand how to embed files from Microsoft Sky Drive.

Take a look here [url removed, login to view]

It's a simple spreadsheet that allows you to select a test by entering an x next to the desired test. When you press enter after entering the x, the column that says, "Test Selected Was" will tell you what test was selected. Ignore where it says, "Fake Tests" as this is in development. A JavaScript was produced that adds a drop down box (bottom left). See here so far so good [url removed, login to view]

Ok, so what I now need is to only show the part I need people to see. Take a look here to see roughly what I want the embedded part to look like [url removed, login to view]

See what happens though when the embedded part is shows along with the drop down script.

It works except that it's all over the place. The script is still working just it's no good basically.

My requirement is for this script to work so that when you select the test, the spreadsheet remains presentable and look like [url removed, login to view]

Please be aware that this is a test spreadsheet and will not be the actual spreadsheet or HTML file that will be used. I will need the Javascript to be portable onto another spreadsheet.

Some things to know about the script:

1) [url removed, login to view] has a variable defRange:"G3",

G3 is the location of a cell where the test range is found. I need the JavaScript file to not use G3 but instead refer to a pre-defines named range. The spreadsheet is already setup with a named range which can be used. The reason for this requirement is so that I eventually wont have to define the range in a cell but rather in a variable in the spreadsheet.

2) item: "testArea"

This variable is setup when a create the embed code from the Sky Drive. It's also possible to just create a named range in the spreadsheet itself and then use that.
