I am looking to make an interactive and catchy display for the Google Chrome logo. To do this, I want to mash-up the Chrome logo with mbostock's "svg swarm" seen here: [url removed, login to view]
When you view the swarm, it is always in motion. What I want are for the dots to have an assigned color for the chrome logo and, when the mouse is not over the logo, the dots in the swarm should land on the logo to fill it in with color. When the mouse is over the logo, the swarm should disperse and be inaction like the example.
See attached files for a better idea on what I am picturing.
I plan to credit both Google and mbostock for the use of their log and swarm-script respectively. Feel free to use mbostock's scripts and just modify to add the required, additional behavior.
mbostock's swarm is using 500 dots and I would not like to use more than that. So, the size of the logo the swarm lands on can be adjusted to get good coverage. The current confined space of mbostock's swarm is also an ideal size already, so please keep the swarm within the same area as the original.
I have attached an svg of the chrome logo to use as the landing pad. It does not have to be completely or perfectly covered with dots just as long as things end up looking really cool and nice.
