We have a business website [url removed, login to view] that has been hosted for years by HostMonster.com. While we have generally been pleased with their technical support, recently our sites uptime has been quite poor... 94%+ over the last month. Previously, it was closer to 100%. They have indicated that the main reason for this change has been specific to our site, pointing to the root web logs that show slow queries when dealing with certain areas of our database. They also say that several images are needing to be resized and that this is slowing down the response time. I am not sophisticated enough with these issues to know if these points are in fact the main reasons for the poor uptime
We have been slow to move up to a dedicated server environment due to the cost and the fact that HostMonster has, in the past, done a satisfactory job.
1. I need you to troubleshoot our database to see if in fact there is a problem that needs to be fixed.
2. We also need you to review our site for any other necessary upgrades or fixes. For the first time, a month ago HostMonster said our site had been hacked but that they "fixed" the problem.
3. We would like your advice on adding on services like Cloudflare or Incapsula
I have also attached a word document that is an email from Hostmonster back in January 2013 regarding a malicious code issue that may or may not be related to our recent problems.
