Project Description

We have an instrument with embedded software, with a GUI written using a custom widget library on top of DirectFB. The software is split up in a server and a client. The client code has been succesfully converted to Qt. However, the server also has its own UI which is used for factory/service access. This is basically GUI with a dozen pages full of simple buttons and text fields. This GUI is never seen by end customers, hence replacing it is relatively low priority. However, the use of DirectFB in the server currently hampers portability of the code, and as software architect I'd like to get this out of the way before it poses a real problem.

Knowledge of DirectFB is not required - the current code is ugly but works, and it's easy to see from the code what each button is supposed to do. It's basically full of OnQuerySomeInstrumentValueClicked() { someTextField->SetValue(instrument->QuerySomeValue()); }

Contact me to discuss the project. We can provide a working VM with the entire project in it. NDA is requested, because otherwise we'd have to strip the code from sensitive stuff and prepare a special VM specifically for this project. Qt is already installed on the VM (since it's already used for the client UI).
