I want to have all the mango files which are in /ma backed up to a remote server and also have a mysql database backed up. Mango collects data from sensors and devices and stores it in a derby or mysql database. I’d like to be able to back up the derby database but I don’t know if it is possible because derby can only handle one connection at a time and we can’ t not shut down the other connections to do the backups.
For this reason I will probably stick with Mysql unless you have a solution for derby.
So I want to backup the mysql database to a remote backup service like [url removed, login to view] or maybe something else. The main thing is that the DB backup needs to be incremental so that we don’t end up doing large data transfers every day. The database could get to be over 1 gigabyte so it has to be incremental.
The other important part is that I want to have some kind of notification if a backup fails and/or a log of when backups happen.
This would be deployed on the Mango / Ubuntu server that will be plugged into our VPN routers so not sure if the traffic will go through the vpn or not.
Let me know if this is something you can help with.
