I need to query Yahoo via their Yahoo BOSS API with custom queries and process the responses. Experience with this specific API would be great, but if you are the kind of developer who "eats APIs for breakfast", you will not have troubles getting this job done. I need to know the following:
* Can I provide a list of sites to exclude from the search results? The list is big: 3,000 records. Is there a limit to the number of sites one can exclude from search results? If so, what is that limit? How is this done? Is there a place I can upload this list? Or would these exclusions get baked into each query?
* Can I search in specified locales? In other words, can I plug in football in London and get Soccer sites, and football in Houston and get American Football results? Is this capability selectable by Continent, country, city?
* Does Yahoo offer the ability to selectively indicate the language that the search will be done in? If so, how does the query look.
There will be some light work as far as getting queries to work from the *nix command line. Show me examples of the query if it's a one-liner curl or wget command, or the code to run this query. Any scripting language is acceptable (perl, python, php). I just want to see the mechanics of how this works and have someone up to speed on the API details that I can turn to for future questions and advice.
