This is a re-post of a project from last month that was never completed. I have invited some previous bidders to bid again, but all bids are welcome.
I have just completed an Access database for a friend's business, despite being a novice in Access and having to teach myself along the way. I am pretty experienced in Excel and have some knowledge of relational databases from a previous job working on SAS as an end user, but involved in the implementation. I have no VBA experience outside this last couple of weeks.
The database comprises of three main tables...:
- Contacts: Containing personal details of both public and trade customers.
- Membership Cards: Containing customer's membership details.
- Renewals: Narrow table containing renewal status, dates and amounts.
...and several smaller tables (combo box sources, etc), as well as their corresponding forms, the various underlying queries and one report. It includes macros (mostly embedded), some VBA (mostly found on forums and adapted) and probably some bad working practice and mistakes. I'll populate the database with dummy data prior to uploading it.
Through word of mouth, two other similar businesses are interested in my database and before I distribute this thing I'd like for a professional to give it a once over and offer some constructive criticism and pointers. I would also like some advice on how to go about some upgrades I have in mind. Specifically how to populate email templates with data for the purposes of customer service (single mail) and marketing and notifications (mail merge). Populating and sending an HTML email template within Access and via a Gmail account is my ideal result (Can Access handle POP/IMAP in that way?). I have experience managing mail campaigns in SAS.
I realise I'm not on a huge budget, so I'm not asking for you to rebuild the database. I expect it will probably take you a few hours to check it over and produce a document with your feedback, followed by an email exchange over the course of a few days for any clarification or questions.

Dear Hiring Manager
I am interested to the job you recently posted. I am expert on DBMS. Though most of my works based on MS access, but I am very familiar with SQL.
Yes, Access can work with popup/imap, but for a low budget db, it is very risky to link a db with popup. Because extra security program is needed for the safety of the database. So it is very wise to keep a access database to offline.
I am very excited to assist you to test your previous database. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss this position further.
Thanks.
