My project will be a tower defense game entitled "Stop The Boats" that is set in an ocean. The game will have a top-down (birds-eye) view and will play out in a wave by wave format, where the user will need to place defense towers on a map to stop a wave of boats. The amount of boats will increase each wave and their strength and speed will also increase.
The objective of the boats is to get from one side of the screen to the other. The objective of the player is to purchase towers and place them on the map to slow down the boats and destroy them before they get to the other side of the screen.
The map will be a standard grid size for tower defense games on mobile phones / tablets.
The user will have an allocation of funds that have been given to them by the government. The user will need to use these funds wisely, as towers can be upgraded and new towers can be bought. After each boat is destroyed, the user will gain a certain amount of credits which can be used to upgrade existing towers or purchase new towers.
The type of defense towers a user can place on the map include:
- Navy Vessels
- Turrets with miniguns
- Turrets with machine guns
- Turrets with rocket launchers
- Tesla Coils
- Flamethrower Towers
The type of boats that will be in each wave include:
- Leaking / Broken boats
- Small / Medium / Large sized boats
- Boats with turrets
- Boats with missiles
These are just some listed, there may be more.
The user will lose the game if enough boats get past the user. After a certain amount of waves, a user will be able to purchase and construct a processing facility, which increases the amount of boats that are able to pass the defense towers.
There will be 3 different levels initially for the game - all set in the ocean (different designs/grid size for each level).
There will of course be social media sharing features, where a user can share the score they got on the current wave, the highest score they've got or new towers they have unlocked.
There will be a free version of the application with ad support and limited features, whereas the pro version will cost AUD $[url removed, login to view] and has no advertisements of feature limitations.
