We run a delivery service for various stores, restaurants, and companies. We have a centralized call center which gets calls from end customers for food or parcels to be picked up from restaurants and to be delivered at thier addresses. Once we recieve the order, we pass on the order to the restaurant on a real-time basis. Post that, we communicate to the available delivery boy (manually checked) who is closest to the pick-up address (manually done) and the order is then relayed to him over the phone. Each of these activities are done cluster wise. In other words, we define a cluster / zone as a 7-10 kms radius. We will recieve and deliver orders only within this cluster.
Since the above is done on a very manual basis and expanding this to another cluster or multiple of them cannot be done by a centralized call center knowing nothing about the other clusters - we want this to be automated and create a logistics setup.
We are looking to create a dashboard wherein all orders and reflected and these orders are communicated to the delivery boys via a ping onto thier smartphones which also provides thier location to the call center. The GPS is extremely important as this will allow the call center to know how far they are from the point of pickup hence allowing the call center to determine the best person to allocate an order to.
