Project Description

StrandVision Digital Signage has a patented web based digital signage network that uses a specially written Adobe flash player to display the signage on web browsers, Mac or Windows pc's or a custom StrandVision Linux/Unix digital media player. StrandVision is soon to create a low cost version of the software that uses a private branded thumb sized droid pc to display the signage. The droid pc manufacturer will install the completed droid application on this device.

Generally, the application will ask for (and save) a username, password and location on startup. Once these are entered, a web site url is read and the response is separated out and processed. One of the response values is a web site url which is saved for the next time the application is started. When that url is available, the WebView class will be used to open the url as a full screen web page. The web page must have javascript and adobe flash plugins enabled so that no user interaction is required to view the signage. The application will also need to be sure that the screen stays active when the signage is displayed if the device is not running on battery. There will be a menu with Settings, Pause/Resume and Exit options.

This application should be able to run on any android device and a future project may be an iPhone with the same capabilities. The complete eclipse project with all source code must be provided upon completion so that StrandVision can maintain and enhance the application going forward.
