In light of the recent events in the Philippines, where Typhon Haiyan has destroyed the lives of over 10,000 people. I feel that there is something the Freelancer community can do to help this, and future natural disasters. Natural Disasters happen far to frequently for us to ignore.
Like many of the crowd source apps, such as Waze & Google Crisis Maps, there is a strong potential to leverage the availability of smart phones and their sensors as ways to collect, monitor and respond to environmental data to help nations better detect and respond to natural disasters.
I am aiming to get the Freelance community to combine our resources to build this application for the greater good of those that live in the firing line of natural disasters. I would like to see the application first target typhoons, hurricanes and earthquakes. Please put your hand up today.
We are looking for the world leading mobile and application developers to pull together.
I am going to do all I can to get support from companies like Google, USAID, etc. to fund the resources that we are going to need. But I am also looking for supporters, partners and media partners.
The aim is to have the first working prototype within 10 days.
Please help, please respond with additional inputs to make this happen
We need mobile developers, application developers, mobile strategists, environmental analysts, etc.
