We have a very basic inventory asset tracking script written in ASP/C# with a (MS)SQL backend. There is an interface to add and update items in the system (uses jquery mobile to be mobile responsive), an admin area for user management,
and a viewing interface to list item records by type, department, employee etc. You can also edit records from this view area.
I'd like to have the script ported to rails.
It may mean rebuilding the script in rails and cloning the same features.
Current system pages and features:
Enter New Items Page
-enter barcode number and atributes
-uses Ajax to search for existing barcode number in system and update page with values if barcode exists.
View & Edit Records Tabular Format
-View/edit by employee
-View/edit by department
-View/edit by item type
-View all items
-View history (all changes are written to an audit table to see compete history of changes)
-User is required to log in to use the script
-Admin user role is require to access admin area
-User id is tracked and written to tables to identify who made changes.
I can zip the script and send the database structure as well.
I will handle the deployment of rails on a service. Part of this project is I'll need help exporting the exiting the sql data and import it into MySQL to work with the new rails version of the script.
