I have an Oracle 11G database. I'm looking for an experienced Oracle 11G DBA to answer some questions as needed and provide Oracle knowledge.
For example, we have a large table with millions (30-50) of rows. After a batch of records are inserted, queries are very slow (20 min). After executing the below:
EXEC dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('db', cascade=>TRUE); Queries run in few seconds. Why?
Another example, there is a DB on Amazon RDS Oracle, another one hosted in-house. RDS one performs better even though on similar OS/hardware. How can we compare the param config to make in-house like RDS config?
I'll have questions similar to above and the skilled DBA will provide the answers. It's not something you can just google, if you don't know Oracle inside/out please don't bother bidding.
I have a lot of experience with Oracle, both as a DBA and developer, and especially enjoy performance optimizations. I'd be happy to answer your questions. See my Private Message for more details. cheers sam

Your query is running slow because the Oracle optimizer chooses a bad execution plan or an index is missing. This is not difficult to fix. I have experience with very large data where tables have billions of rows.
