Solve a small problem in Oracle Application Express (ApEx) version 3.1.
This is an old version of ApEx !
I need you to document how to create a list of values and populate a read only calculated / descriptive field based on the selected value
Document or video explaining how to do this.
Screen snapshots are probably sufficient
Language must be English
You can use any tables.
My example here uses EMPLOYEES / DEPARTMENTS demo tables
I dont need fancy documentation. It just needs to be good enough for me to understand how it works so I can make the changes to the actual application at my end
ApEx form with a region based on EMPLOYEES table
Emp Id 
Emp Name [Joe Smith]
Department Id  Department Name [Accounting]
Summary of requirements
Document how to do the following
1) create the list of values based on department
2) optionally make the department id field enterable (I dont mind if it is read only and can only be updated via the list of values
3) The department name will need to be recalculated when
3a) The user selects a department from the list of values
3b) The user enters a value in the department id field then tabs out of the field
3c) The user queries a different employee row which has a different department id
Department Id field
This is a foreign key field that joins to the Department Id primary key column in the Departments table
The value of this field is populated by the user selecting a value from the list of values via the LIST button
At your discretion, this field can either be
1) read only so the user can only enter a value in the field by selecting a value form the list.
or 2) enterable so the user can type a value in the field. In this case, the department name field
must refresh to show the matching department
This button displays a list of departments and allow the user to select one row.
After selecting a department from the list of values, the department id and department name are displayed in the appropriate screen field
Department Name field
This is a display only calculated field
It displays the department name based on the value of the department id field
If the department id changes, the department name should be recalculated by retrieving the department name from the department table based on the department id
