The deal site would be divided into 3 section; Daily Deals, Haggling, and Group Buy.
Daily Deals: Front end would look very similar to your standard deal site, ie. Groupon/Living Social etc. Information presented would include price, savings, timer, product description, sharing options, and possibly some product reviews. The visitor would also be presented with an x % incentive if they refer friends to the deal. Click on the share button, enter in friend emails, and a screen would pop up with a coupon code. Also, when first visiting the site, an initial pop up would be presented that would ask them if they would like to just ‘kick tires’ or be notified of upcoming deals.
The back-end would use Magento commerce as the e-commerce platform of choice. Admins would be able to schedule deals in advance.
Haggling: This part of the site would be for visitors who would be interested in bargaining for a specific item. The concept would work similar to a [url removed, login to view] where before they enter an offer, they would have to enter in their credit card information or paypal info. The system would pre-authorize the initial face value of the item and then charge the actual amount agreed to when the bargaining process ends. User would have a maximum of 3 shots to close the deal. If the deal does not go through, then they can re-try within 24 hours with a new deal.
During the haggling process, a number of pre-set answers would be set up depending upon the actual bid. Administrator would be able to determine what those answers would be based on percentage intervals the potential buyer enters. The virtual sales person would be in the form of a cartoon character who would exhibit various facial expressions based on the amount bid.
Front end, would have the same information as on the daily deals section.
Group Buy: In order to achieve a specific price for an item, x number of orders have to be placed. Administrator would be able to set the deal for a pre-determined period of time. Process would be such that the user would place an order, whereby funds would be reserved, then be prompted to invite friends to participate in the deal as well. If a critical mass of buyers are secured, then the order goes into processing, otherwise, the deal is dead and the hold on funds is released.
