We require an application to be able to search and display media (FLV's initially) and documents (PDF initially).
The user must be able to bulk import documents into a database which have an attached XML file detailing additional metadata and then be able to search via this metadata.
A GUI is required for the user to add video and audio title, description, files etc.
The system is required to functions using two monitors. The first monitor is for the user to cue up video/audio/a page on a document and then 'publish' onto the other monitor. The control of the media and documents (play, forward, rewind, stop, zoom (documents) etc) should only be done on the first monitor to affect the display on the second monitor.
A comprehensive specification including a concept developed in Flash/XML (with very little functionality) is available.
The application must run on Windows XP or Vista, with potential development to make it run on OSX.
We envisage the application been developed in Adobe Air and Flex, with XML - possibly JAVA GUI? Although any other approaches are welcome.
A number of other modules (timeline, image search and display) will be required to be integrated at later dates, so the bidder must be able to be available at relatively short notice over the next 18 months.
Although we specified amounts of video, audio and documents, the system must be able to handle much more, identify these as minimums.
Code must be well commented and the programming must be easily integrated with additional modules.
