Parse XML sports data into SQL database and have it accessible via a web application. There are about 400 different xml files (~340 dtds) to be parsed. I may require only a portion 100 - 200 to be parsed for this project depending on the details of the bid I accept. In your bid include how many/what percentage of the files you will be able to parse in the given time frame. Specific games, players and teams have cross referenceable id numbers. I do not want one table per file. As much as possible I want information to be cross referenced. During development (or bidding if you wish) I can forward the current feed to a web service, web form, etc. if you give me the address and details. You will be responsible for analysing the xml files and designing/creating the database (tables, stored procedures, etc.), I will take care of all of the database hosting issues. That database will be the backend for several sites that total 1 - 2 thousand hits a day. You will write a program that will receive an xml file as a string and will then input it into the MS SQL 2000 database. My preference is for the program to be written in C# 2.0. This is flexible. Your bid should include your preferred language(s) and to what extent this program will be parsing the file and to what extent that work will be done in SQL. The more work being done in SQL the more flexible I am with the language used. While you can assume all of the xml samples I've uploaded are correct (unless otherwise noted), your parsing method should be able to handle slight variations. Be able to log the variation/error and continue to run. You will also create a web front end. I would prefer [url removed, login to view] 2.0 but the main purpose of this is to have a tool to check on the database and on the feed, so just let me know what you want to use. Your web app should not send raw Select statements but should use stored procedures for retrieving data from the database. All of your code needs to be well comented.
