I'm currently running a small and very basic travel site on wordpress.
Now I'm planning to grow this site and I need further functionality. I'm not sure if i should stay on wordpress or not.
Here is a small overview of what I need:
The site contains a lot of accomodations (flats, hotels, holiday homes) in different locations over europe. The site speed should be fast and reliable even if a lot of users have to be served. (also use CDN and Caching) There should be a sophisticated search on the page with filter mechanism.
Accomodation owners should be able to edit the description of their homes, images and so on. So they need a login to edit their page.
The page should be very similar to this one: [url removed, login to view]
Please have a look at search, and site structure/urls. Every country, region and sub region has a landing page which is SEO optimized. There is a ajax search.
So a lot of pages exist for countries, regions which should be generated automatically or semi-automatic (except of SEO text) if a country/region is created. There must be a mechansim to create this site structure not completely manually.
Request(emails by online form) which are sent to single accomodation owners by searching users, should be stored in the database. Pageviews and number of sent requests for a specific accommodation should be tracked. (I already have this now, but retrieving the data in the backend for reports is very slow...)
Now I got 300 houses on my site, but the site should host 5000 or more.
This are 5000 pages/posts for accomodations and several hundred landing pages for the countries/regions etc. (see sample website).
I need 10000 visitors a day on the site, and it should still run stable.
So this is just a brief overview of what I need.
I like wordpress a lot, there are so many nice plugins, and functionality which can be reused for this development. Maybe not in original but as a base (e.g. Caching plugins, Content distribution plugins, SEO plugins, nice content editor, and good backend usability etc).
Too many plugins slow the site down, and the wordpress search itself (WP-query) is not designed for sophisticated data requests. (good explanation on this topic here: [url removed, login to view])
Is it still possible to use wordpress as a raw basis for this project or not? Drupal is so complex, and I heard that development on drupal needs much more time because of that. A development starting from scratch, and developing a proprietary solution is like reinventing the wheel for me.
I need somebody who has experience and could guide me for this project. I would like to use as much functionality as available to reduce development costs. So this is the challenge!!
See it as a "low budget" development, and I don't want to reinvent the wheel!
Later I need somebody who can make the system architecture (database and functional design/ based on wordpress?).
For now I need a good guide -> a written consultation, explanation, maybe some first suggestions on planning the site . Sharing your thoughts and suggestions. Maybe we will start this project later together, but this is not a must, nor can I promise it now
Please study the given sample. It is very much the thing I need for my purpose.
Take your time for preparing the first answer I will run the ad for the project one week, before rewarding it.
Hope you understand,
