I am looking for a way to easily read the state of the buttons on a Windows Media Center remote... I have found some links that describe how to capture the messages sent by the remote control, but the main problem is that I need to be able to read from the remote NO MATTER which window is the topmost window. The examples that I had found all only help you get the signals when your program is the topmost window... but I need to be able to read the buttons even when my program is in the background. So I'm not 100% sure how the best way to read it like this would be. I suppose one option is a global hook that could intercept the messages from whichever is the topmost window, but I am not sure if maybe there is a better way that is not so resource heavy. The WMC remote is a standard HID device, so I think maybe there is a better way to read it directly with RAW data, but I'm not sure since I'm not too familiar with programming for hardware.
