Project Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE TASK:

Part 1: In our Typo3 installation (multi domain) we need an exact copy of our existing template. The copy will be assigned to a new root page, accessible through a separate subdomain.

Part 2: In a second step, using typoscript, put into the new root page a reference to the old (existing) root page so that its complete content (pages, content elements... ) are visible in the frontend also under the new subdomain.

Explanation why we need this: For our main page, we want to have a copy of the current state of the art (html, css, typoscript), so that we can continue developing the design but keep the old design as a reference. Important: The idea is not to copy (duplicate) content elements (pages, etc.) into the new root page, but just to put a reference there. As a result, there will be only one (!) full tree in the backend, but in the frontend we have two different designs for the same contents, visible under different subdomains.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In my perspective, the task includes the followig steps. But this procedure may be altered if necessary for any reasons:

Part 1) In our Typo3 installation, create a new root page called "DESIGNCOPY". Then make an exact copy (1:1 copy) of the existing template attached to the existing "AEWB" root page (which is our main site), and assign this copy to "DESIGNCOPY". Assign a new subdomain ([url removed, login to view]) to the "DESIGN COPY" root page. "Template" means here css, html and typoscript elements.

Part 2) Using typoscript, make in the "DESIGNCOPY" root page a reference to all contents which are in the "AEWB" root page. (pages, content elements, menues, what ever). This should have the effect that whatever content is published in AEWB (currently [url removed, login to view]), will appear in the frontend also under http://designcopy.wb-nds.de. This must be made in a way to ensure that whatever changes we make in the page tree under AEWB, will be reflected also (in the frontend) under http://designcopy.wb-nds.de.

Part 3) Provide me with a rough (quick and dirty) documentation of your steps, so that I can understand it at least in retrospect (I will assign a milestone to this part) It can be really "rough", something like a protocol; I do not mean a nicely written manual or tutorial!

HELPFUL INFORMATION

- Typo3 version 4.7.1 is used, on a PHP 5.3 Server
- Full admin access and FTP access will be provided
- The template is what is available publicly as "Government Package" for Typo3 4.7. This is a template created for German public institutions, covering many accessibility features. If you are not familiar with it, look it up in the Typo3 website where it is available for download
- Our page tree has already a number of root pages, some of which are linked to their own domains (multi domain functionality is implemented already)
- Subdomain [url removed, login to view] is ready to use.

Thank you for bidding!

Note: When this is complete sucessfully, we will have subsequent tasks related to implementing the new design, setting up a complete new website, etc.
