I'm trying to import data in to a sql server database from a csv file using coldfusion. I'm using line breaks chr(10) as a new record. Problem arises when users put line breaks while entering their information in csv file. Because of the line feeds enteredby user my whole importing code logic is ruined.
Here is an example
**firstname,position,company**
jack,programmer,microsoft
john,research (linefeed entered by user)director,dell
amy,marketing manager,HP
while doing import, second record will give problem because user has given linefeed over there so it will think that instead of 3 records we have 4 records in this csv file. It will also break the record for john in two separate records.
Also u can see another example of this in the file I’ve attached. Records with the company name digital device will give me problem because there is a linefeed entered by user in Title column. When I will import this file instead of 5 it will insert 6 records.
Does any one have a code to take care of this linefeed problem while importing csv files in coldfusion? I know I can do it by DTS but I need to do this only by using cold fusion programming only.
