I need someone to write me a excel based spreadsheet that will calculate the minimum wastage when cutting products from a stock length.
For example, we stock tube in 5000mm lengths, and we sell it in every possible length from 200mm to 5000mm. I need to be able to paste a column of lengths into a excel spreadsheet, and it will calculate 1. how many 5000mm tube lengths are required and, 2. what is the most economical way to cut them with the least wastage.
This second point is very important and needs to create a cutting list of the products in order of cut. The 5000mm length needs to be a variable field so the calculator can also be used for profiles that are 6000mm etc.
Also, there will need to be a field that i can enter in the width of the cut (blades vary from [url removed, login to view] to [url removed, login to view]) to ensure that this doesn't affect the cutting list.

I have a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering and I'm extremely proficient with excel. This would be a piece of cake... and I would actually enjoy doing it.
This can be solved as a simple linear programming problem, which I just spent 3 month listening a course for Operational Research and Optimization. I can easily solve this problem.
