Wanting to create a custom weather display for digtial signage presentations.
The chosen developer needs skills coding in AS2 or AS3 with Flash.
We have a series of digital signage screens in various locations for a company scattered over multiple cities all playing the same presentation. Client would like though now to have weather reports and a forecast displayed specific to the city each screen is in.
Solution we've come up so we don't have to create unique timelines for each screen is to create a custom SWF file that when it plays in the digital signage playlist, refers to a locally saved XML file on the media pc telling it what city it is in. Then the SWF contacts an online weather source, aggregates the data for the local weather specific to its location, and generates the oncreen graphics accordingly. The programmer will suggest the source to collect the data.
Animated SWF files of weather icons will be provided.
A simple daily forecast is to be shown with current conditions graphically represented as well as accompanying text (ie. scattered showers) and a temperature high and low (XML will allow us to choose F or C for the temperature). Time should also be displayed.
Current weather is to appear for 10 seconds.
Second part is the display of a 5-day forecast. Simple again with 5 columns across the screen showing the day of the week at the top, weather icon below, and temperature high and low.
I've attached some samples of how we'd like the graphics to look.
The prepared SWF file should have no background so we can overlay on branded backgrounds. Stage should be 16:9 and run at 25fps.
