I have created a simple MP3 player in flash that is meant to play samples of songs that are for sale (download) on a website. I would like the player to only play the first 30 seconds or so of each song but there are so many songs and they are always changing that I don't want to have TWO song files for each song (one short and one full-length for downloading). Another issue with the player I would LOVE to resolve is this: Right now each song has its own corresponding .swf (player). So each time a new song is added to the site I go in to the .fla file and change the name of the mp3 in the actionscript, then save as a new .swf. It only takes a second but it would be AWESOME if somehow clicking the "listen" link could open ONE player that would DYNAMICALLY play the chosen mp3. There is something like this on www.calabashmusic.com. To see the mp3 player I made and how it's working now, go to [url removed, login to view] - go to the "music" section and the band "Bat Makumba" (the site isn't live yet). I should mention that the site uses a type of eCommerce software that has put some limitations on what I can do so the ideas in the SECOND paragraph above may not be possible, I don't know! help help help I am so very actionscript challenged!
