This is a new product launch of a workflow management tool which will empower social networking technology to delegate and complete tasks associated with an event.
Specifically a website needs to be produced that has strong design, interaction and user interface qualities - think professional but simple. Maybe using Flash/Flex or web 2.0 technologies. Data management will be crucial as each user will need to store quite a lot of data. Behind the scenes the application will be quite complex...
A user will register for the service thereby creating an account. They will then create an event from a template which will have certain tasks. They can add their own bespoke tasks and view these on a calandar. Social networking will allow them to add friends to help them complete the tasks. They will be able to delegate these tasks to other people in their network and receive feedback on whether the task has been completed. Alerts will remind both the event organiser and the task owners of due/overdue tasks (escalation, resolution etc).
Service providers will feature in a 'marketplace' which can be called upon by the user to book/arrange certain tasks - e.g. travel operators, hotels etc. These will form part of the network.
The culmination of all these tasks will be the event itself. Once all tasks have been completed the user will know that (hopefully!) the event should run smoothly.
The delivery should be a working prototype that can be launched as a beta site. It will not contain all the intended functionality but the basics to prove the concept and get real user feedback.
Essential components for the beta release include:
1) User registration and data storage
2) Basic project management functionality - user selects event from template, adds tasks (through form/calendar), views tasks in a calandar, modifies/deletes tasks, updates the status of tasks
3) Basic social networking functionality - user adds friends list, optional email (sends invite to friend)
4) Basic workflow management - user delegates tasks from the project plan, receives updates/alerts (as does the task owner if the email address is given, otherwise the user must update)
Technology - probably mysql, java/php, flex/flash or similar web 2.0 hosted on unix/linux.
Design - if you have the experience, otherwise this can be found elsewhere. Strong user interface experience needed for a clean, simple, user friendly experience.
What is a rough estimate of the cost? If you are capable and interested then we can discuss the finer details and revise the quote accordingly but I'm looking for a realistic starting figure here which won't be more than 20% different from the final amount.
Flex/Flash or similar Web 2.0
