Below is the list of features and design elements required for the new website. If you have any ideas or suggestion please let me know. I have a site at [url removed, login to view] this project is about reinventing it.

Description of design and features:

New Logo and Favicon

I would prefer that the site is built on wordpress

The Header should be at the left hand side and be static while the feeds and content remain scroll-able

News ticker at the top of the website displaying latest news with time stamp.

The news ticker should be static like the header and should always be on the screen even when the user is scrolling

The web site should be SEO optimized H1, H2 and H3 headers, tags etc

It should be MOBILE friendly

It should be optimized to LOAD VERY FAST

It should have a search box and content on the site should be search-able

It should have RSS and email subscription options

It should be optimized for google adsense

Pages: Home, Newspapers, Politics, Entertainment, Business, Sport, Jobs, Tech, Education, Health, Live TV, Radio, Contact Us

Bottom of the page should have links for About Us, Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Submit your website

Any form on the website i.e comment sections etc should have strong measures to block spam

Make provision so I can add more feeds in the near future

Each headline should display a little summary and picture in the news stream so readers can have idea what the article is about

Each headline should have a time stamp (E.g 5mins ago, 12mins ago etc)

Each headline should have source and category displayed (From: ThisDay, Category: Newspaper)

The source and category should be clickable and when clicked all the headlines from that source or category should be displayed

Each headline should have a tweet and facebook share button available without opening the headline

There should be a “view counter” beside each headline indicating how many views the headline has received.

There should be a “filter by source” option. This menu or drop down list should always be visible even when the user is scrolling.

Old news should never be flushed out of the website. It should be stored and searchable

Articles should be extracted into my website and displayed when a user clicks on a headline. Just like how flipboard, digg, pluse etc extract articles into their mobile applications.

At the bottom of each article there should be a link to view the article at the source.

When the source link is clicked, the external page should be loaded in a lightbox. This should be optimized to load fast.

Bellow the article there should be a section for “Related Posts”

There should be sharing options and a comment section.

When items are shared on social media it should link back to my website rather than the source of the article

There should be social media widgets. Facebook, twitter.

There should a widget labeled “Hot Stories Today” It should display the most read posts within the last 24hrs

There should be a widget at the right titled “Listen to Nigerian Radio” It should have little logos of the radio stations and these logos should be clickable

When a user is reading a post there should be a pop up “recommended for you” box at the bottom right.

News should be updated as fast as possible

Use a nice colour scheme that is attractive and helps navigation.

I would like to see a mock-up before development begins.

The site should be tested on google page speed and optimized for speed.
