Project Description

Hi there!

I am seeking someone who can help us make use of an API key to serve up a sharp CSS-styled Event List feed on our Joomla-based site.

We are using [url removed, login to view] as the "source" of this Event List. It's the perfect blend of cost, strong user interface/design, and clean registration/ticketing. As a church, it is appealing to us because, the service allows you to display all of your events in the feed or you can differentiate based on who the "organizer" of the event is. In our case, we would use multiple organizers to rough out our various departments (e.g., Guest Services, Student Ministries, Community Service Projects, etc.) and set up event feeds for the various pages of our site. In EventBrite, each "Organizer" has a unique id which is used in their widget builder or custom API for tuning the feed for the website integration.

Ideally we could just use their nice widget builder to drop in the pre-baked code for an event list into our site, but out of all the things it does generate, according to a support email today, that is one it doesn't. Bad for me; good for you.

I think it should be a fairly simple thing to accomplish because the end result is already achieved in these "Organizer" pages they generate for you. At the end of the day, I want the event list to look exactly like the one in the center of this "Organizer" page here:
[url removed, login to view]

The only caveats would be:
* There is no need to have the Past & Current events tab.
* It would be great to have green links and "attend" buttons to match the site.
* Also, those links to the event details page should open into a new page or lightbox, as I don't want to kludge up the user experience by them getting trapped into the module space / iframe that the event list will be in. Especially since I want it to look decent on mobile phones.

Here is the front door to their developer site tools. [url removed, login to view]
They seem to make use of an API key, an APP key, and a user id key (which is not the same thing as the unique "Organizer" id.)

Here is a direct link to the list function of their API

And here is a direct link to the API method which lists events by organizer:

I am unsure as to what the best route is for this code-wise (php, javascript, etc.). As you might have picked up, I know just enough to know that I don't need to be spending a ton of time figuring it out. It would be beautiful to have someone create what I need, and I upload X to Y, and paste Z into either a Joomla wrapper module or a Joomla "custom html" module which is called up from the Joomla article via something like {loadposition module_name} inline with the rest of the article content… From there, I could adapt the code from "Z" by changing the Organizer ID and paste it into a different article or module to have an events list for each department of our church/site...

I will provide login credentials to our EventBrite account after we get started.

Thank you for considering this project!
