I have a project where I want to have a JSP that displays a GIS.
I want this map to be a standard World/Earth map that a user can click-hold-box-in zoom in/out, pan, print, mail, and expand full. I believe the GeoServer ([login to view URL]) (example: [login to view URL]) can do this.
It cannot be an applet that is loaded on the JSP page. I want something like <[login to view URL]>. It should also have the ability to select layers -- so the user can choose which ones to display.
I want the map to display in addition to the world map a result set of points from a dataset (I will later add the database connection).
I also require a method/example to convert a latitude and longitude point to the dataset -- if the coordinate set does not use the a standard latitude and longitude -- so that I can enter a GPS location and have it mapped to the GIS map.
Finally, I require instructions as to how to install this.
Note: GeoServer is not required -- but any (upon approval) free open-source Java GIS is acceptable as long as it has a world dataset that can be used and a world image that can be applied as well.
