Hotel Management System

The software to be designed and developed will provide a Hotel Management System (HMS). The HMS should be configurable for a hotel of 1 to 9 buildings, of up to 5 storeys in each building and up to a 99 rooms in each storey. Each room should be uniquely identifiable as a Building-Storey-Room number. For example, Room number 517 would be building 5, first storey, and room 7. Each room should be configured with its type (single/double), amenities (TV/coffee machine), room rate (which may be changed) and its sleep capacity. The HMS should be extensible, that is, additional buildings may be added in the future, sometime after the initial configuration. The staff should be able to view the status of the hotel at a glance, including rooms and calendar. They should be able to see whether the rooms are available for reservations or occupied. The rooms should be identifiable as clean (ready for check in) or dirty (require housekeeping) or under repair (by maintenance). The hotel staff should be able to set the room rate for each room according to its amenities or apply discounts as necessary. The staff of the hotel should be able to use the HMS to perform the following functions: 1. Make Reservations with the following information: a. Name b. Address c. Phone d. Email e. Number of people f. Dates of stay g. Payment information h. Reservation Deposit with Cash/CC/TCs i. Purchase approval should be obtained from the credit card company before the transaction is completed. 2. Perform check-in with the following additional information: a. Identity b. Credit CC/Cash/TCs i. Purchase approval should be obtained from the credit card company before the transaction is completed. c. Signatures 3. Add charges for: a. Food and Beverages b. Gift Shop c. Incidentals 4. Perform check-out with: a. Payment with CC/Cash/TCs i. Purchase approval should be obtained from the credit card company before the transaction is completed. The staff of the hotel should also be able to use the HMS to: 1. Create and print room reports 2. Daily Closing statement 3. Daily transaction log The Manager of the hotel should be able to use the HMS to make any changes to the data.
