We need a very experienced Java Web application Architect to guide us choosing a Java Web Application Framework which we can use to develop a 3-tier (n-tier) web application. If you're interested, please submit your resume (you can hide sensitive or private information). I have some initial questions. The ones shaded with yellow color are simple test questions. You need to mention the best or popular Java Web Application Framework. You need to pass the test first. See attached file. Thanks. ## Deliverables * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Saturday Oct 17, 2009 12:57:58 PM: On your request, here are some more details. 1) We build Java based web applications and I'd like my team to use some well know, top rated, easy to use, robust Java Application Frameworks. I use the term Java Application Frameworks loosely, see below. 2) 3 tier (n-tier) 3) UI (web page) - it has no business logic. It calls the business layer. We hope to identify a few typical page layout. On each page, We hope to use "components", much like ASP.NET User Controls, so these "components" may be reused (at least layout and code. they may display different data) 4) Data Layer (DL) - truly automatic. From a database table or view or stored procedure, a tool can do O/R mapping and generate objects. Programmer just calls for example "LoadByPrimaryKey(...)", "Save()", "Delete", no need to write SQL. The objects generated evetually should go to business layer. So the programmer does things in Business layer, does not need to touch Data layer code. I look for your guidance. If this works well, we'll let you build a simple but reference proof of concept sample application. I hope this helps. Let me know 1) if you did something like this in the past 2) Do you use this in your daily work? 3) Can you do it for us? Thanks. * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Friday Oct 23, 2009 1:33:14 AM: OK. Thanks. You all know Java. I'd like to see if one of you could do a Proof of Concept application. WCF with C# code, interface / contract includes (read/write): integer, string, array, collection, tables (dataset, datatable or whatever you see works). An ASP.NET (C#) web site as client, and a Java web site as client. Web page include label, textbox, dropdown box, table (listview or gridview or alike), all getting / setting data through WCF. you don't have to use a database, but if you can, I'll consider you first (SQL Server 2008 DB, one table is enough) - you don't have to use linq to sql or linq to entity, but if you can, I'll consider you first. Let me know how much you'd charge, how long it will take you. I don't have much budget for this prototype, but if your work is selected, it may lead to a long term larger budget project. Thanks. (We're still considering Java frameworks, but this is an alternative route we'd like to investigate as well ...) * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Tuesday Oct 27, 2009 1:00:10 AM: Decision time...Hello everyone. Thank you very much again for your messages. Now it's a decision time for us. 1) We have decided to go with a Java based framework; 2) Be able to use major DBs (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, MySQL, etc.); 3) O/R mapper which maps relational tables to objects. 4) ideally, our developers work on business layer, touch as less DB / data layer code as possible. 5) Master page; 6) something like Microsoft user controls (what do you call it in Java world?). You have recommended me a few choices. I need you a) help me choose one set of framework(s); b) build a very simple to understand yet feature rich demo (text boxes, dropdowns, tables, gridviews / listviews, etc. filters, edit / add /delete, biz rules, to/from DBs, etc.) - this is a big project but this demo phase has a very small budget. Basically, if the demo goes good, the project will be on and the major funding will come. I'd like to see your bid for the demo (proof of concept). How long it will take you? I also need to create a dev environment here. Tell me what I need to have / install. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks. * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Tuesday Oct 27, 2009 11:04:13 PM: Detailed spec.: 1) Hibernate + Wicket (do we need Spring as well for certain area?); 2) Our developers are Java (with limited Framework experience) and .NET developers; 3) We'll train them to use above; 4) You help us put together a plan (Hibernate latest verison??, Wicket latest version??, which IDE? which development web server (does IDE include it?); Which production web server? Anything else we need to install / consider? 5) You help build a demo web site, 3 tier or n-tier, using above frameworks. a) "Hello World" page; b) label, textbox, dropdown list, data from / to database (SQL Server, Oracle) (Select, Update, Insert, Delete), using Hibernate O/R; c) Similar to b) but use tables, listviews; d) similar to b) & c) but with filters and search boxes. Please estimate time needed, fee needed. This is a proof of concept phase for us. We have a limited budget. Thank you very much. * * *This broadcast message was sent to all bidders on Thursday Oct 29, 2009 9:26:59 AM: To answer a question from a few of you...if the pilot (proof of concept) work is paid, yes, it is. It is a proof of concept to my team for using the framework only. You only need to bid for the pilot / demo work and we' pay you for this work. Thanks.
