MS Outlook to Java API

I need some Java code that will provide a Java API to Outlook. i.e. a way to read emails, contacts, tasks, calendar items and ideally also edit and add items. I figure there must be some API to Outlook because programs like ActiveSync are able to synchronize the state of Outlook data with PDAs. The work product will take the form of Java classes, with source code, that can be imported into my Java projects. The requirements documentation that you provide will simply be a Javadoc-like document describing what the methods in the API you will implement do.
