Addition: I am now considering Java based versions, though I still prefer the flash type. There are a couple liberally licensed Java flash graphing libraries out there (JUNG is too big, I think, but TouchGraph seems pretty good). I don't care about GPL type stuff as long as I can combine it into a commercial site, although it is an advantage if I can avoid distributing the source code (to competitors). I'd expect a Java based version to be less costly than a Flash version. Thanks, Joe --- I would like a flash based (or possibly JS, if possible) visualizer for a social networking site. This should be a lightweight flash object that grabs an XML (or other format) data from the app server and renders a nice graph showing how a user is connected to other users. It should use some kind of authentication (possibly grabbing a web browser session cookie and passing along) to get the network data document. It should have options for rendering the graph in two interesting graph views (for example: "spring" and something else). It should also show pictures for each user on the network. The nodes should be clickable urls (of the associated profiles). It should be very pretty and animated, not a static picture, with some reasonable ability to manipulate/recenter. Of course you don't have to provide the actual social network data, but you need to document what it should look like (nodes, urls, names, connections, etc). Should be a fun project for a good flash/mx programmer.
