I currently have a full webapp written in php and html which stores data in a mysql database. I would like a rewrite of the app in a modern, web compliant format with attention paid towards UI design, speed, and simplicity. The webapp is a business intelligence tool designed to aid in the managing of numerous restaurants. On the restaurant level users log into the webapp and input the daily sales (customer counts, inventory counts, etc). On the office level, users log into the web app and view reports tallying the information or simple charts/graphs (viewing the data in a tabular format, or visual format). Customers/inquires to the webapp from users without credentials would display basic information of our company and our restaurant locations.
The application is currently deployed so the new rewritten app would not be required to be production ready as a whole, so the application can be written in a very modular method so features can be added slowly (to ensure proper testing and optimization). The user of graphics is to be minimized, and the UI is to be as conservative and simple as possible. There will be definitely less than 50 concurrent users and the app will run reasonably fast on a single dedicated box, so performance bottlenecks will not really be an issue for the most part. Since the application is a rewrite much of the existing logic can be replicated/cloned.
